Man Taken To Hospital In Elmhurst Crash: Cops

The man's car was hit by someone trying to get away from police, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – A 56-year-old man was taken to Elmhurst Hospital on Saturday night after a man getting away from police crashed into his car in Elmhurst, police said.

About 7:30 p.m., the fugitive was heading west on Butterfield Road and had previously been pursued by police in Hillside and Berkeley, according to a police news release. He struck the 56-year-old's car at Butterfield and Spring roads, police said.

The fugitive drove away, with police finding his car along the south side of Eldridge Park, police said.

After a brief search, Elmhurst police found the man in the park and arrested him. His name was not released.

The crash, which police described as serious, is under investigation, according to the release.
