Mazzochi to Host Public Safety Event with DuPage County Sheriff
State Representative Deanne Mazzochi and Sheriff James Mendrick Host a Crime Prevention Workshop

State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R- Westmont) will host an informative Crime Prevention Workshop in person and with DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick on August 25th at the Oak Brook Library.
“Residents have expressed to me on multiple occasions that they are concerned with an uptick in crime in our area,” Rep. Mazzochi said. “I have sponsored commonsense legislation to prevent repeat offenders from being released right back onto the streets and to prevent the further escalation of crime, but these proposals have been mired by House Democrats in the legislative process. People deserve to feel safe in their homes and in their communities, so I am hosting this event for people to learn what our police are doing to protect us and what they can do to keep themselves safe.”
Rep. Mazzochi serves on the Judiciary-Criminal Committee in the Illinois House and was recently appointed to the newly-created bipartisan, bicameral Crime Reduction Task Force.

Sheriff Mendrick started as a patrol deputy in 1996 before rising through the ranks and culminating in his election to sheriff in 2018. He now oversees around 400 sworn officers and 100 civilian employees that help protect the over 900,000 residents of DuPage County.
Rep. Mazzochi praised Sheriff Mendrick’s performance saying, “He and his staff are a major reason why our County is one of the safest to live in. At this event, you’ll hear directly from him on the state of public safety in our area, and learn how to be vigilant and smart about keeping yourself and your family safe.”
