Mystery EMS Bill, DUI Fall: Elmhurst Police
A resident told police he has never been to Austin, but was billed for an ambulance there.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a mystery ambulance bill, a DUI, domestic disturbances, retail theft and a counterfeit bill. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Mystery ambulance bill
- A resident in the 600 block of West Crockett Avenue told police Wednesday that he received a bill for ambulance service in Austin, Texas. The service was provided May 30. The resident said he had never been to Austin and was able to show paperwork verifying he was in Elmhurst on the date of service. The resident was not out money, but was uncertain how someone obtained his information.
DUI

- Charges are pending against a 25-year-old Melrose Park woman who ran away after she crashed her car shortly before midnight Saturday near North Avenue and Interstate 290. Officers found her after she fell in a ditch. She admitted to drinking and driving and then fleeing. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Domestic disturbances
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 1:30 a.m. Saturday near York Street and Cayuga Avenue. A person told officers that she argued with her friend. The other person, a 20-year-old Elmhurst man, was cited on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 8 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North West Avenue. Officers received conflicting statements and saw no signs of injury, so they made no arrests.
Retail theft

- Two women stole bottles of liquor about 2 p.m. Thursday at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. They left in an older Dodge Neon, last seen heading south on York Street. An investigation is pending.
- A man told police Thursday that he tripped and fell while running about 9 p.m. Thursday near CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Found bike
- A dark purple men's Schwinn Transit bicycle was at Glos Park, 142 E. Park Ave., for six days until Friday. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
Counterfeit bill
- Goodwill, 675 W. North Ave., reported it received a counterfeit bill about 1:30 p.m. Friday. An investigation is pending.
Theft
- A person told police Saturday about missing jewelry and money after receiving treatment at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. An investigation is pending.
Harassment
- A woman told police that someone had harassed her about 4:30 p.m. Saturday after she used the ATM at Bank of America, 205 N. Addison Ave. An investigation is pending.
Fell off bike
- A man fell off his bicycle about 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Spring Road and Prairie Patch. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
