National accreditation for Elmhurst Hospital’s radiation oncology services

The recognition is based on process of care, radiation oncology team, safety, quality management and patient-centered care.

Elmhurst Hospital’s Nancy W. Knowles Cancer Center has earned a four-year national accreditation for radiation oncology services from the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) based on compliance with ASTRO's Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx).

APEx assesses organizations using a comprehensive set of sixteen evidence-based standards which focus on five pillars of patient care: process of care, radiation oncology team, safety, quality management and patient-centered care.

“The Nancy W. Knowles Cancer Center Cancer Center is pleased to receive APEx accreditation from the premier radiation oncology society in the world,” said Sharon Rimgale, Director, Patient Care. “Evaluating our processes in relation to ASTRO’s high standards, including standards for safety and quality, validates our practices and recognizes the efforts of our radiation oncology team to deliver patient-centered radiation oncology care.”
