Neighbor Threat, Scam: Elmhurst Cops

A resident told police that a neighbor threatened to harm her dogs.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police responded to cases involving a neighbor threat, a scam, suspicious people, a fugitive from justice, counterfeit license plates and retail theft. Here is information from Elmhurst police reports:

Neighbor threat

  • A resident in the 200 block of East Crescent Avenue told police Friday that a neighbor threatened to harm her dogs. The neighbor denied the allegation.

  • On May 13, a resident in the 500 block of North Willow Road received a check for what he thought was the proceeds of a sweepstakes raffle. He then deposited the fictitious check and mailed cash to a stranger to cover supposed taxes and processing fees.

Suspicious

  • A resident told police that he received a motion detection alert on his doorbell camera about 5 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. In the video, a man was standing at the front door, but never rang the doorbell. He left shortly after. He was described as black, 225 to 300 pounds, 30 to 40 years old, and wearing a checkered brown button-up shirt, multicolored pants, black socks and blue rubber sandals.
  • About 11 p.m. Friday, someone tried to enter a car parked in a driveway in the 200 block of South Boyd Avenue. An investigation is pending.

Fugitive from justice

  • Dakari Malik Warren, 26, of Chicago, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North Michigan Avenue on a charge of being a fugitive from justice. He was wanted on two Missouri warrants. Police said the car he was in was stolen in Idaho. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Suspended license

  • Larry L. Flowers, 39, of Cicero, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Thursday at York Street and Grand Avenue on charges of aggravated driving with a suspended license, improper lighting and unlawful possession of marijuana in a vehicle. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Counterfeit plates

  • Gabriela Miclescu, 30, of Chicago, was arrested about 5 p.m. Saturday at North Avenue and Route 83 on a charge of counterfeit plates. Police said she had counterfeit Texas plates on her car. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

  • Three males stole two shopping carts full of liquor about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller. They entered a black car on Michigan Avenue and went north. All three were described as Hispanic, 17 to 24 years old and wearing blue jeans. The first was said to be thin and wearing a gray hoodie and orange Nike shoes. The second was thin and wearing a black hoodie and black shoes. The third was described as having a medium build and wearing a black hoodie and white shoes.

Stolen car

  • About 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Elmhurst officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle at York and Industrial. The vehicle was reported stolen in Schiller Park. The car's occupants were transferred to Schiller Park's custody.

Ammunition turned in

  • A resident in the 600 block of West Belden Avenue on Thursday turned in several boxes of unused ammunition in his attic to the police department.
