New Elmhurst Deadline For Power Coming Back: ComEd

ComEd restores power for more than half of those without, map says.

ELMHURST, IL — ComEd has more than halved the number of customers without power in Elmhurst, according to its online map. As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, about 2,800 people remained affected by outages locally. That's down from more than 6,400 a day ago — a more than 55 percent reduction.

As of Wednesday morning, ComEd counted 205,000 customers as being without power in its service area. That was down by nearly half from Tuesday morning. ComEd has about 4 million customers.

Patch checked the outage information at various spots in Elmhurst, and most places on the map indicated that ComEd aimed to restore power by 1 p.m. Friday, moved up by more than a day. On Tuesday afternoon, ComEd set the deadline for 3 p.m. Saturday for nearly all the outages. But a ComEd spokeswoman told Patch that the company hoped the overwhelming majority would be restored by Friday.

Patch found one outage — near York and Third streets — where the targeted restoration time was 10:15 pm. Saturday.

The outages were caused by storms late Monday afternoon. In a news release, the city government said Elmhurst's two main power feeds were damaged in the storm.
