New York High Principal To Be Selected

The current principal is leaving for another suburban district.

ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst School District 205 board plans to select a new York High School principal Wednesday.

The candidate's name is being kept under wraps.

Last month, York High Principal Shahe Bagdasarian, who took the helm three years ago, was hired as the superintendent of Oak Lawn High School. He starts in July.

In the 2021-22 year, Bagdasarian was the second-highest paid employee, at $217,456.

York High serves about 2,700 students.

The board plans to select Bagdasarian's replacement at a special meeting at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at the district's headquarters, 162 S. York St.

Afterward, the board is set to hold a meeting to discuss how the district is carrying out its "strategic plan."
