Nicor Continues Construction In Elmhurst

The project will require expelling a natural gas release (masked with an orange scent) at Madison and Poplar.

ELMHURST, IL – Nicor Gas is in the process of modernizing the system that delivers natural gas safely and reliably to its customers in Elmhurst. The city said the project requires the replacement of a 20” natural gas main in two locations on Madison Street between Hawthorne Avenue and Parkside Avenue and between Parkside and Poplar.

On Friday, June 29 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., the project will require expelling a natural gas release (masked with an orange scent) at Madison and Poplar. The city said this natural gas release will create a loud noise that will be heard in the surrounding area. Residents should not be concerned with this process, as it is safe, highly controlled, and necessary for the replacement of the gas main.
