Nicor Expels Natural Gas Release, Holds Public Meeting In Elmhurst
Nicor will expel a natural gas release, which will cause a loud noise and be masked by an orange scent.

ELMHURST, IL — Nicor Gas will host an open house to discuss the Madison Street project before expelling a natural gas release in two location. According to a release from the city, Nicor is in the process of modernizing the system that delivers natural gas safely and reliably to its customers. This project requires the replacement of a 20" natural gas main on Madison Street between Hawthorne and Kearsage avenues.
On Wednesday, July 26 between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Nicor will expel a natural gas release, which will be masked with an orange scent, at Madison and Kent and Madison and Hawthorne. According to the release, the natural gas release will create a loud noise that will be heard in the surrounding area. Residents should not be concerned with this process, as it is safe, highly controlled, and necessary for the replacement of the gas main.
According to a release, Nicor will hold an informational meeting at Madison Early Childhood Education Center on Tuesday, July 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. Nicor project managers will discuss the project, and will be able to answer any questions about the gas release or the overall project.
