Nicor Gas System Improvements Continue In Elmhurst

The project on Madison will begin Monday, Aug. 6. There will be lane closures along York Street during daytime construction hours.

ELMHURST, IL — Nicor Gas is making improvements in Elmhurst along Madison Street, between Hawthorne and Poplar avenues. According to the company, the project is part of "Investing in Illinois," A Nicor Gas system improvement initiative. The project is part of a multi-year program by Nicor to replace aging natural gas pipelines, move natural gas meters from inside homes and businesses to outside, upgrade natural gas storage systems and refurbish stations that regulate the natural gas pressure in the system.

The project on Madison will begin Monday, Aug. 6. There will be lane closures along York Street during daytime construction hours to accommodate the natural gas infrastructure improvements. According to the company, detour signage and other traffic control devices will be set up to alert residents prior to the lane closures, which are expected to last approximately two weeks.

Access to Madison from York will be limited to construction personnel and residents. In addition, the intersection of Madison Street and Kent Avenue will be closed to allow for the new natural gas main installation and equipment transportation.
