Oak Brook Chase In Heavy Traffic: Cops
The pursuit ended when a woman crashed into a fence, prosecutors said.
OAK BROOK, IL – Usually, suspects have a hard time speeding away from officers in stopped traffic. But police are alleging a Chicago woman found a way in Oak Brook.
On Saturday afternoon, an Oak Brook officer saw a Nissan Rogue on 22nd Street near Route 83 with a paper license plate that was registered to a different car, DuPage County prosecutors said in a news release. The officer tried to pull over the driver.
The driver, identified as 34-year-old Jenail White, did not stop, police said. Instead, she drove north on Route 83 and, in heavy traffic, sped 70 mph on the shoulder of the road, prosecutors said.

She turned east on Roosevelt Road and then drove east on Interstate 290, speeding 94 mph on the shoulder, police said. At the Cicero Avenue exit, White sideswiped a car and crashed into a fence, according to the release.
She ran away, but was caught, police said.

"Do yourself and the motoring public a favor, if you hear sirens and see flashing lights behind you, pull over," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the release. "Leading police on a high-speed chase is not the answer and will only make matters worse."
White was charged with felony aggravated fleeing from an officer and multiple misdemeanors and petty traffic offenses.
She is being held on a $50,000 bond, with the requirement she must pay 10 percent.
