Terrance Reed, 37, and Jaquay Shines, 25, both of Chicago, and Doniesha Chew, 23, of Phoenix, were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

About 3 p.m., Oak Brook police were called about a retail theft at Nordstrom Rack, 2155 W. 22nd St. Riding in a Mazda 6, the driver, Chew, intentionally collided head-on with the officers' car, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

Officers from a number of agencies pursued the suspects, whose car reached speeds of more than 100 mph prosecutors said. Police said they stopped the Mazda in the southbound lanes of Interstate 294, south of 75th Street, police said.

Reed then ran away, but was apprehended 100 yards away, prosecutors said. Chew and Shines stayed in the car and were taken into custody.

Police said Chew, who brought empty bags with her, and the men entered the shoe department at Nordstrom Rack and stole four sets of children's boots from their boxes, placed them inside bags and returned the boxes to the shelves, police said.

“The type of criminal behavior alleged in this case clearly displays the defendants’ complete and utter disregard for the rule of law and for public safety,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release.

Among the police agencies responding were Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Elmhurst and Hodgkins.

The trio were charged with one count each of burglary, aggravated assault and criminal damage to government-supported property and three counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer.

The bonds for Chew and Reed were set at $350,000 and Shines at $150,000. They must put up 10 percent of their bonds.
