Occupied Stroller Used In Oak Brook Theft: Cops

The suspects stole nearly $1,500 worth of merchandise from a department store, police said.

OAK BROOK, IL – Two men and a woman used an occupied baby stroller to hide merchandise they were stealing last week at Macy's in the Oak Brook Center mall, DuPage County prosecutors said.

The suspects were Sergio Rojas James, 37, of West Chicago; Juan Sebastian Rojas Jaimes, 25, of Niles; and Shirley Vanessa Oviedo-Ortiz, 30, of Niles, according to the prosecutors' news release.

On Thursday, they stole 29 items of clothing, valued at $1,458, placing the merchandise in the occupied baby stroller, police said.

At the same store on Sunday, Jordan Antonio Mezamunoz, 25, who has no known address, was caught stealing $1,039 worth of men's clothing, police said. He had a magnet to remove security devices and a wire cutter, police said.

All the suspects were charged with felony burglary and retail theft. In the first incident, a DuPage County judge denied prosecutors' request to jail the suspects until trial, according to the news release. In the second case, the judge granted such a request.
