Pair Burglarize Elmhurst Store, Breaking Front Door: Cops
In another case, a resident was the victim of a scam involving bail, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a store burglary, a bail scam, threats, fraud and retail theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Store burglary
- Two males burglarized Sole House, a shoe store at 569 N. York St., about 3:30 a.m. Thursday. They broke the front glass door and stole merchandise. They were described as black, 16 to 30 years old, and wearing gloves and medical face masks. The first one was wearing a green sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and red and white gym shoes. The second was wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black and white gym shoes. An investigation is pending.

- A resident in the 200 block of West Eggleston Avenue told police that someone posing as his neighbor called him and requested money for bail Friday. The resident withdrew money from the bank and returned home. The suspect went to the resident's house, retrieved the money and later called the resident for more money. The resident did not provide any more money. It was unclear where the neighbor was supposedly jailed. Illinois recently ended cash bail.
Threats
- Al Piemonte Buick, 364 W. Grand Ave., repossessed a car that was originally loaned out as a courtesy vehicle. The suspect then called and threatened the dealership. The suspect was told to stay away from the business. Police received the report Thursday.
Fraud

- A resident in the 800 block of South Hillcrest Avenue told police Thursday that someone claiming to be with Microsoft gained access to his computer. The resident was unsure whether the person obtained his personal information.
Retail theft
- At Shoe Carnival, 195 S. Route 83, a man put a pair of DC athletic shoes in his backpack and left the store without paying for them about 10:30 p.m. Friday. He was described as Hispanic, 25 years old, thin, having shaggy or curly hair, and wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, a blue "Fox" backpack, dark gray pants and white shoes.
Theft
- A resident in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road told police that someone stole money from her nightstand between Sept. 27 and Oct. 6. An investigation is pending.
