Pair Jailed After Elmhurst Store Theft: Cops
They stole nearly $1,000 in merchandise before leaving in a minivan, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst police released their latest blotter Thursday. Here is information from the reports:
Burglary
- Gheorgehe Poenaru and Maria Codreanu, both 23-year-old Baltimore residents, were arrested about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on charges of retail theft and burglary. They left the parking lot at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, in a blue Honda Odyssey minivan. They stole $972 worth of merchandise from Kohl's, police said. A DuPage County judge granted the state's request to keep the pair in jail until their trial.

- A man stole two pairs of shoes about 3 p.m. Wednesday at Shoe Carnival, 195 S. Route 83. He was last seen walking toward Route 83. He was described as black, 25 to 30, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with an unknown light-colored print, a white T-shirt and a black hat.
Drugs
- A person was found in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia about 3 p.m. Wednesday at The Grove nursing home, 127 W. Diversey Ave. An investigation is pending.
