Pet Found Unresponsive In Elmhurst House Fire: City

The fire in a local neighborhood damaged the second floor of the house, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst firefighters responded to a fire Monday afternoon in the 300 block of South Mitchell Avenue, according to a city news release.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the fire was found in a rear bedroom on the second floor and quickly put out, the city said. Fire damage was discovered on the second floor of the house.

Elmhurst firefighters are investigating the cause. No residents were in the home at the time of the fire, but a family pet was found unresponsive, the city said.
