Police Investigate Deaths of Family Members Found Inside Elmhurst Home

Deceased were found during well-being check on Saturday. Deaths being termed "suicide-homicides," Chicago Tribune reported.

Elmhurst Police continue to investigate the deaths of several family members found inside a house in the 600 block of South Chatham Avenue on Saturday evening.

Chief Michael Ruth said that officers went to a well-being check at the home around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police entered the home and “found several family members deceased” inside the house, Ruth said in a press release.

The Elmhurst police chief also said that the tragic discovery was an isolated incident and that there was no immediate danger to the community.

Police were being tight lipped about their investigation. According to the Chicago Tribune, a police source said the deaths were “suicide and homicide.”

An initial call for assistance said there were “four shooting victims” inside the Chatham Avenue home. Police have not yet released the manner of death.

Neighbors told ABC-7 Chicago that an elderly couple lived in the home, along with two adult children, possibly disabled.

Police SWAT teams stormed the house with guns drawn shortly after the bodies were found, WGN-TV reported.

The DuPage County Coroner was on the scene late Saturday evening. The names of the deceased were being withheld pending notification of family members.
