Elmhurst police said Lech told an officer she was coming from a work event at Cooper's Hawk restaurant and bar in Burr Ridge. The district's superintendent, Andrew Wise, later appeared to dispute that assertion.
Lech turned in her resignation letter three weeks later. It is effective June 30. She did not mention her arrest.

"With careful consideration, as I turn a chapter finishing my doctorate in education, the best fit for my long-term goals rests in a district that I can further help leverage and be provided additional collaboration and professional growth opportunities," Lech said.
Lech, an Elmhurst resident, called the Elizabeth Ide team "one of the most hard working, resilient, gracious group of educators I've ever met."
