Protest, Metal Knuckles: Elmhurst Cops
A protest takes place for a second time at an Elmhurst business, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a protest, weapons, theft, DUI, a tollway scam, a fugitive driver and harassment. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Protest
- People protested between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday at CTL Global, 1000 N. County Line Road. Officers spoke with the demonstrators, who dispersed peacefully. A protest also occurred April 29 at CTL, police said.
Weapons charge

- Edward Robinson, 63, of Evanston, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Monday at Grand Avenue and York Street on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, no valid driver's license, unlawful possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt. Police said Robinson had two sets of metal knuckles and one throwing star. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Theft
- Patrick Harty, 58, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fremont Avenue and York Street on a theft charge. Police said Harty took the locks off an electrical box and that he admitted he did so. He was released.
DUI

- A 28-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, man was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grand Avenue and York Street on charges of DUI, failure to dim headlights and improper turn at an intersection. He was taken to the police station and released.
Tollway scam
- A resident in the 100 block of South Linden told police Monday that she gave her personal information to a website claiming to be the Florida tollway. The victim then realized she was being scammed. The incident occurred June 19.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop a driver who was not wearing a seatbelt about 9:30 p.m. Monday at North and Myrtle avenues. The driver sped away, last seen heading west on North Avenue.
Harassment
- An employee of Home Medical Express, 853 N. Church St., told police Tuesday a woman called his employer and harassed the firm's call center representatives in an attempt to talk to the employee. An officer contacted the suspect and told the woman to stop trying to communicate with the employee.
- Someone left a threatening voicemail message about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Val-Matic, 905 Riverside Drive.
Drunk
- Police were called about a drunk man about 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
- An unconscious person was found about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the restroom at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The man, who was drunk, had several items of unpaid merchandise. The man had previously been given a no-trespass notice at the store. He was taken to the hospital. An investigation is pending.
Bike found
- On Tuesday, a red and white Ultralite Road Warrior men's mountain bicycle was abandoned and unlocked in front of Pioneer Electrical Service, 481 Spring Road. A search for the owner was unsuccessful. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
