Rep. Conroy Cosponsors Bill to Assist Disabled Veterans

VILLA PARK, Ill. – In an effort to connect veterans to services that they have earned in the line of duty, State Rep. Deb Conroy (D-Villa Park) has signed on as a cosponsor of Senate Bill 3255. The bill provides that permanently disabled veterans that are issued disability placards are exempt from the requirement to show evidence of their disability when reapplying for the permit.

“The service and sacrifice of veterans is admirable and those that have been injured in the line of duty should be honored for their service,” Conroy said. “It’s imperative that we work to help connect veterans to the services that they have earned, this bill will do just that and help expedite the process for disabled veterans.”

The bill previously passed the Senate with broad, bipartisan support and is currently awaiting a vote in the full House.

“With Memorial Day approaching I can’t think of a better way to honor our fallen heroes than by passing this bill and improving services for Illinois’ veterans,” Conroy said. “I thank all of the service men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom.”
