Rep. Mazzochi Hosting Second Property Tax Assessment Seminar
State Rep. Mazzochi and York Township Assessor Invite Residents to Discuss Their Property Tax Bills and the assessment appeal process.

State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst), together with York Township Assessor Deanna Wilkins, is hosting another seminar for district residents on understanding and appealing property tax assessments. Rep. Mazzochi previously partnered on a seminar with Downers Grove Assessor Greg Boltz in May.
“Everyone is struggling right now, especially homeowners trying to keep up with the American Dream,” Rep. Mazzochi explained. “Costs are going up, including government expenditures, which means increasing property taxes to make up for it. People need real relief, which can only come from state and local government action. However, this seminar will help property owners understand their bill, how local and state spending impacts it, and what the assessment appeal process looks like.”
The seminar will take place on Wednesday, July 13th from 7-8p.m. at the Wilder Mansion, 211 S
Prospect Ave in Elmhurst. It is free and open to all residents of the 47th District.

Rep. Mazzochi most recently served on the Democrat-led Property Tax Relief Task Force. The unwieldy, 80-member task force met over the course of the latter half of 2019, but failed
to produce any legislation. Rep. Mazzochi, along with other House Republican members of the task force, filed a package of property tax relief bills in 2020. The supermajority Democrats refused to allow any of those bills to be heard in committee.
Rep. Mazzochi added, “Illinois’ property tax structure continues to make it difficult for more families to plan for their futures in their homes, and can have punishing effects on seniors. This seminar will give homeowners the tools they need to lower their property taxes when they feel they are being overcharged.”
