Rep. Mazzochi Hosts Tick and Lyme Disease Informational Webinar

State Representative Deanne Mazzochi continues her informational webinar series with a panel discussion on ticks and Lyme disease next Thursday via Zoom.

“You can be exposed to ticks and the diseases they carry anywhere, not just the woods and in farm fields, but backyards and local parks,” Rep. Mazzochi said. “People need to be vigilant and know what to look for and be aware of.”

Cases of Lyme have been reported in all 48 contiguous states and Alaska, with the highest concentration in the Northeast and the Midwest. According to the Centers for Disease Control, an estimated 476,000 Americans contract Lyme disease each year, making it very prevalent. However, unless a classic bulls-eye rash is detected, many cases of Lyme disease go undiagnosed or mistreated until it is too late to prevent more severe damage.

Rep. Mazzochi is hosting an online information session to educate people about tick and Lyme disease prevention, identification, and treatment. The panel will consist of environmental specialist, Harvey Mull, and Dr. Rashmi Chugh, who specializes in Lyme disease treatment and prevention. Both panelists are with the DuPage County Health Department.

The webinar will take place on Thursday, July 28th at 6:30pm via Zoom.
