Ring Stolen From Elmhurst Gym Locker: Cops

In another case, a man jumped on the hood of a woman's car, causing damage, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a stolen ring, theft of an iPhone, a man jumping on a hood, an abandoned car and harassment. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Stolen ring

  • A woman told police she left her wedding band inside a secured locker about 10:30 a.m. Friday at FFC Elmhurst gym, 140 N. Addison Ave. When she returned, it was missing. She reported the theft three days later.

Jumping on hood

  • During an argument, a person jumped on the hood of a woman's car about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at a business at 615 W. Lake St. A scratch could be seen on the hood. The woman said she didn't want to press charges.

Theft

  • A man told police he brought two new iPhones about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to the T-Mobile store, 361 S. Route 83, for a file transfer. He walked away for 10 minutes. One of the phones went missing. An investigation is pending.

Abandoned

  • A gray Kia Optima was abandoned more than a week ago in the parking lot at Chase Bank, 534 W. St. Charles Road. On Tuesday, an officer tried to contact the owner, but was unsuccessful. The car was re-tagged to be towed away next week.

Not missing after all

  • A man told police that his backpack containing important documents went missing after he placed it in a storage room Tuesday at Super Ego Holding, 677 N. Larch Ave. Upon reviewing security footage, it was discovered he had not placed the bag in the room. The backpack was later found and returned to the man. Nothing was reported missing.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road told police Wednesday he received numerous phone calls and threatening messages from his ex-girlfriend. An investigation is pending.
