Riverside Police Want To Seize Unlicensed Driver's Car

Berwyn man has six arrests on his record for driving with a revoked license based on a DUI arrest, police say.

RIVERSIDE, IL — A man with a revoked license was stopped for going twice the speed limit Wednesday in Riverside, according to a news release. Police want to seize his car.

Allan Hernandez, 33, of Berwyn, was arrested on charges of excessive speeding, felony driving with a revoked driver's license and driving with no insurance.

About 1 a.m. Wednesday, a Riverside officer clocked Hernandez speeding 60 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 3600 block of South Harlem Avenue, according to a police news release.

Hernandez told police he did not have a license. Officers said they determined it was revoked because of a previous DUI conviction.

Police also discovered Hernandez had been arrested six times before for driving without a license based on a DUI conviction, according to the release. The first two arrests were in the same month — June 2007, police said.

Hernandez's criminal history also includes theft, harboring a runaway and jumping bail, police said.

"Allan Hernandez is a habitual offender for traffic offenses," Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel said in the news release. "Considering his six prior driving-while-revoked arrests based off of a DUI, his actions to continue to drive is appalling; to that end, we have filed seizure paperwork in an attempt to seize his car. If we are awarded the vehicle by court order, we will sell the vehicle and use the profits to fight impaired driving."

Hernandez's car is a four-door 2005 GMC, police said.
