Rooftop Decks Under Review In Elmhurst
The zoning and planning commission will now hold public hearings to consider rooftop amenity decks.

ELMHURST, IL — At the Elmhurst city council meeting on Aug. 6, the council discussed a recommendation from the planning and zoning committee regarding rooftop amenity decks.
The zoning and planning commission will now hold public hearings to consider the proposed amendments, according to board documents.
According to board documents, the discussion concerned amending the zoning ordinance regarding rooftop decks and "amenity decks." Proposed changes include allowing amenity decks, even if the building is at the maximum height; structures on amenity decks should have a height limit of 15 feet; and hours of operation for businesses open to the general public, like a rooftop restaurant, should be limited to the same time frame as "beer gardens."
