Roommate Rivalry, Harassment: Elmhurst Cops
One roommate blocks the other from her bedroom during an argument, police said.
ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a roommate disturbance, harassment, theft of files, a bicycle found, a fall on ice, converter thefts and drug possession. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Roommate disturbance
- A domestic disturbance happened about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of South Prospect Avenue. A woman said she and her roommate were in an argument. She said she blocked the door, so the roommate could not enter her bedroom. Both people agreed to separate for the night.

- A resident in the 100 block of Cottage Hill Avenue told police Wednesday that a man texted her after she had asked him to end all contact. The man told an officer a court order is in place allowing him to contact her. The officer provided the woman with information on how to obtain an order of protection.
- A resident in the 800 block of North Parker Avenue told police Monday that her ex-boyfriend from 2019 keeps calling and messaging her and that she wants it to stop. An officer contacted the ex-boyfriend, who said he would no longer contact the woman.
Ammunition found
- A man flagged down an officer at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jewel grocery store, 153 E. Schiller St. The man said that while he was in the parking lot, he found six rounds of ammunition. The police placed the rounds into evidence for destruction.

- An employee of James Ekblad CPA left his office for a five-minute break about 10 a.m. Tuesday, with his file cabinet unlocked. When he returned, he noticed seven files were stolen. An investigation is pending.
Bike found
- An unlocked black and gray Trek Marlin 5 bicycle was stolen about 2:30 p.m. Monday in front of Fitness Formula Club, 140 N. Addison Ave. A surveillance video shows the suspect riding the bike toward the train depot. The man was described as white, 40 to 50 years old, having a medium build and brown hair, and wearing a black winter hat, mask over his mouth, black jacket, dark green pants and black gloves.
Fall on ice
- A man fell on ice while walking on the sidewalk about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of East Vallette Street. He had pain to his right shoulder and knee. He was taken by ambulance to Elmhurst Hospital.
Converter thefts
- A steel cable to a lock was cut overnight Monday at the storage yard for BrightView Landscaping, 727 N. Church. Once inside, the suspect cut eight catalytic converters from their vehicles. The business plans to review footage from its surveillance cameras.
- Someone removed a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked outside a loading dock at a business in the 800 block of North Church. It happened between Friday and Tuesday.
Drug possession
- Joseph Hadac, 31, of Cicero, was arrested about 11 p.m. Monday at North and Villa on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, no valid driver's license, no license plate light and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Luis Flores, 31, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West First on a charge of unlawful possession of more than 100 grams of marijuana. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Warrants
- Adam Santiago, 35, of Chicago, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Monday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect, on a DuPage County Sheriff’s Office warrant and a charge of possession of marijuana by a driver. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Jaheim S. Jackson, 19, of Chicago, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of West Butterfield on five warrants and a charge of resisting a police officer. She was released to Orland Park police.
- Roshelle Woods, 19, of Chicago, was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of West Butterfield on a warrant. She was released on bond.
Driving violations
- Juan Carlin Ojeda, 21, of Chicago, was cited about 5 p.m. Tuesday at York and Interstate 290 on charges of no valid driver’s license, tinted windows and illegal transportation of alcohol. He was released on bond.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 600 block of North Oaklawn Avenue told police Tuesday that someone used her personal information to open a Verizon account and fraudulently purchased an iPhone 13 Max. An officer provided the resident with information on how to protect herself against identity theft.
