Senior Prank, Store Ruckus: Elmhurst Cops

Police are called about suspicious people involved in a high school prank, according to a report.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a high school prank, disorderly conduct, a customer dispute, an ex-worker who refused to leave, a computer stolen during class, a house burglary and a dog bite. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Senior prank

  • Police were called about suspicious people about 4 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Melrose Avenue. Two suspects were found to have a water gun and had been involved in a high school senior prank. Both were released without charges.

Disorderly conduct

  • A man showed up about 11 a.m. Thursday at Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83, and said he intended to hurt an employee who was not working at the time. The man was confrontational with another employee as he was being escorted out of the store. An officer later found out the man threw an object at a window of the employee's house.

Customer dispute

  • Police responded to a customer dispute about 10 p.m. Thursday at Amigas Restaurant, 671 W. North Ave. The suspect said he got into an argument with his girlfriend. She then left with his money, so he couldn't pay. A friend of the suspect responded and paid for the meal. The suspect was issued a no-trespass notice.

Refused to leave

  • Domino's Pizza, 1036 S. York St., told police that a former employee refused to leave the business about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers met with the man and served him with a no-trespass notice at the business owner's request.

Stolen during class

  • A student at Sandburg Middle School, 345 E. St. Charles Road, reported her Chromebook computer was stolen Friday during class while she was in the bathroom. An investigation is pending.

House burglary

  • A house in the 100 block of North Maple Avenue was reported burglarized about 6 p.m. Friday. An investigation is pending.

Drunk person goes to hospital

  • A person was found highly intoxicated on a bathroom floor about 11 p.m. Friday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave. The victim was lying on his side. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Scam

  • A resident in the 800 block of South Poplar told police Saturday that someone contacted her claiming her phone had a problem. The resident paid the suspect with a gift card and allowed the person access to her computer.

Forgery

  • A resident in the 600 block of South Bryan Street told police that her bank contacted her about a check she made to her church in December where the amount had been changed. An investigation is pending.

Stolen bicycle

  • A bicycle was stolen between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave. A suspect cut the bike lock and abandoned his own bike. The suspect's bike was placed into evidence.

Dog bite

  • A resident in the 200 block of East Second Street said that while retrieving a ball from a neighbor's yard, a black border collie ran out of the house and bit the resident. The resident refused medical treatment. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday.

Fugitive driver

  • About 2 a.m. Thursday at Lake Street and West Avenue, an officer tried to stop the driver of a red Dodge Challenger. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
