Sleeping Man, Disturbance: Elmhurst Cops

A man was found sleeping in a public restroom and then taken to the hospital, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a sleeping man, a domestic disturbance, a custody issue, theft of services, an egging and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Sleeping man

  • A man was found sleeping about 1 p.m. Friday in a restroom at the Elmhurst train station, 128 W. First St. He appeared intoxicated and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Kenilworth. Officers found that a man and a woman got into an argument, but did not get physical. They agreed to separate for the night.

Custody issue

  • A resident in the 500 block of North Michigan told police Friday that he believed the mother of his child had traveled out of the country with his son. The resident had no parenting agreement or court paperwork designating custody of the child.

Theft of services

  • Avis Budget car rental, 896 N. York St., told police Friday that a person failed to return a silver Kia Forte that was leased in August. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the suspect.

Suspicious

  • A family in the 600 block of West Gladys Avenue told police that they thought they heard their front door open, followed by footsteps, about 11 p.m. Sunday. Officers checked the house and found no signs of entry. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Egging

  • A resident in the 100 block of South Pick told police that the driver of a dark Jeep Wrangler threw eggs at his home about 10 p.m. Friday. An investigation is pending.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop the driver of a Dodge Charger for tinted windows and purple headlights about 8 p.m. Saturday at Grand and Industrial. The driver sped away, last seen heading south on York Street.

Damaged sign

  • A sign was damaged between Jan. 4 and Jan. 8 in the front yard of a house in the 200 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue.

Bicycle found

  • An Elmhurst University security officer found a blue and gray Diamondback bicycle leaning on the fence at the tennis courts about 9:30 p.m. Thursday. The bicycle was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
