Sleepy Elmhurst Man Arrested In Hit-And-Run: Cops
In another case, police chase a DUI suspect until the man gets a flat tire, local authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police arrested people on charges of DUI, burglary and retail theft, among other offenses. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
DUI
- A 35-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 900 block of North York Street was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Virginia Lane on charges of DUI, failure to report an accident to police and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police said the man was found asleep behind the wheel after a hit-and-run. He was taken to the police station and released.
- Alexander Enrique Lameda, 23, of Chicago, was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at York Street and Interstate 290 on charges of aggravated DUI, aggravated fleeing and eluding, no valid driver's license, improper lane usage, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device, transportation of open alcohol by a driver and use of unsafe tires. Police said Lameda fled from officers, but eventually stopped because of a flat tire. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A 35-year-old Glendale Heights woman was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at North and West avenues on charges of DUI, improper lane usage (two counts) and improper turn. She was taken to the police station and released.
Burglary

- Roxanne Kovanda, 60, of Neillsville, Wisconsin, was arrested about 1 p.m. Thursday on charges of burglary, retail theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and no seatbelt. Also arrested was a 58-year-old Chicago woman, who faces charges of retail theft, possession of stolen property and transportation of open alcohol. Kovanda was taken to the DuPage County Jail. The other woman was released. The stolen merchandise was from Mariano's grocery store, 678 N. York St., police said.
Warrants
- A 33-year-old Maywood man was arrested about 11 a.m. Thursday on a DuPage County warrant. He turned himself in. He was released.
- A 53-year-old Wheaton man was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of North Church Road on a DuPage County warrant. He was released.
Suspicious car

- Two 20-year-old men and a 19-year-old man, all of Elmhurst, were cited about 11 p.m. Saturday at Park and Myrtle avenues. One was charged with marijuana possession, while the others were charged with possession of tobacco by a minor. Police came into contact with the men after seeing a car they deemed suspicious.
