Some Elmhurst Residents Still Without Power: ComEd

Elmhurst more hard hit than other suburbs, utility map indicates.

ELMHURST, IL — About 10 percent of Elmhurst's ComEd customers who lost their power in Monday's storm were still without service Thursday morning, according to the utility's information. ComEd's online map indicates about 700 Elmhurst customers had yet to see their electricity restored, down from more than 6,400 after the storm.

The day after the outages, ComEd listed estimated times of restoration in most places in Elmhurst as 3 p.m. Saturday. A utility spokeswoman, however, said that was an outermost time, with the company expecting the vast majority to get service by Friday.

Like on Wednesday, most Elmhurst power customers were told Thursday that power would be restored by 1 p.m. Friday. A number of other spots were set to get service by 11 p.m. that day.

According to ComEd, 103,000 were without power across it service area Thursday morning, down from more than 400,000 earlier in the week. ComEd has about 2 million customers.

Elmhurst was particularly hard hit by the storm, compared to other suburbs. For instance, less than 1,000 ComEd customers in Hinsdale were affected, according to the village government.

In a news release, the Elmhurst government said the city's two main power feeds were damaged in the storm.
