Stolen Car, Leaving Scene: Elmhurst Cops
A car was stolen from an employee parking lot in Elmhurst, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a stolen car, a man accused of leaving the scene of a crash, a fugitive driver, a loaded magazine and check fraud. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Stolen car
- An employee at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hills Road, told police her car was stolen from the employee parking lot. Security footage showed a suspect shattered a window to gain access about 7 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect then drove north on York Street. The car was found unoccupied in Chicago.

- Alvaro C. Gonzalez, 26, of Northlake, was cited about 10 a.m. Tuesday at North and Elm avenues on charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to give aid or information, and improper lane usage. He was released on bond.
Stolen car recovered
- An Elmhurst officer found a stolen car about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of South York Street. It was reported stolen in Chicago. Chicago police were notified, and the car was released to the registered owner.
Fugitive driver

- An officer tried to stop a black Chrysler 300 about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday near Route 83 and North Avenue. The driver sped away, last seen heading south on Route 83.
Loaded magazine
- A customer of Enterprise Leasing, 856 N. York St., found a loaded magazine in the center console of a rental car about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. An officer took possession of the magazine and returned it to the owner, who had valid gun credentials.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 100 block of North Larch Avenue told police Wednesday that someone gained access to her bank account and withdrew money.
- A resident in the 100 block of Fellows Court told police Wednesday that someone used his personal information to gain access to his bank account and withdrew money.
Check fraud
- A woman in the 100 block of West Industrial Drive told police Wednesday that she mailed a check and later discovered it was cashed with a different recipient's name. An investigation is pending.
