Stolen Credit Cards, DUI: Elmhurst Cops
A man said his credit cards were stolen from his workplace locker, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving stolen credit cards, a DUI, a man resisting arrest, a trip and fall, stolen catalytic converters and damaged Christmas decorations. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Stolen credit cards
- A man told police that credit cards were stolen from his wallet between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Friday at Inter Ocean Cabinet Co., 920 N. Larch Ave. The man said he placed his wallet in a locker, but was uncertain if he secured it.
DUI

- Matthew Lupa, 19, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Church Street on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage. He was involved in a single-car crash. He was released on bond.
Resisting arrest
- Anthony Turner, 29, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Route 83 and Elizabeth on charges of resisting arrest, obstructing identification, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle and driving with a suspended registration. Police said Turner provided his brother's name. Turner also had a warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. He was released on bond.
Failure to give information

- Arthur Socha, 43, of Wood Dale, was cited about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of failing to give information at an attended accident involving vehicle damage, improperly using registration and driving an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond.
Suspicious
- About 7 a.m. Monday, officers saw a gray Acura that was reported stolen in Orland Park. Two people in the car were seen running up driveways in a residential area near St. Charles Road and West Avenue. They entered the Acura and left the area, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
- An ATM user told police a man started to approach the user's car with what he thought was a gun. Officers couldn't find the man, who was described as black, having dreads and wearing a red jacket. An investigation is pending.
Damage
- Someone defaced the side panel of a generator about 11 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of West Harrison Street.
Trip and fall
- A woman told police she tripped on the sidewalk and fell forward about 9 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Berkley Avenue. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. The city's public works department was notified of the uneven sidewalk.
Converters stolen
- A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2016 Chevrolet Express owned by Arrow Flow Co. between 4:30 p.m. Monday and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East Lake Street.
- A catalytic converter was stolen from a car overnight Monday at SpringHill Suites, 410 W. Lake St. An investigation is pending.
Decorations damaged
- Eight people damaged outdoor Christmas decorations about 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of South Rex Boulevard. An investigation is pending.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a stolen Honda Accord about 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Road and Poplar Avenue. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 100 block of West Church told police Wednesday that someone tried to buy several cars online using his personal information. The resident placed a hold on his credit and fraud alerts on all his accounts.
