Suspect Car Hits Elmhurst House: Cops
The driver was fleeing from a burglary of a vape shop in Berkeley, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – A fleeing suspect struck a house early Sunday morning at Vallette Street and Parkside Avenue in Elmhurst, authorities said.
About 5 a.m., Berkeley officers chased two cars suspected of being involved in a vape shop burglary in Berkeley, which borders Elmhurst to the east, Elmhurst police said in a statement.
One of the drivers veered off the street and collided with the house, police said. The juvenile driver, a 15-year-old Wheaton boy, ran away, but officers caught him, police said.

The second car, a Kia Sportage SUV, was last seen heading east from Elmhurst on St. Charles Road at Interstate 290, back toward Berkeley, police said.
According to the city, the resident was home at the time of the crash, but no one was injured. The crash left a 5-foot-wide section of brick masonry damaged on the front of the home, the city said.

In Elmhurst, the 15-year-old boy was charged with reckless driving, having no valid driver's license, driving an uninsured car, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improperly using lanes.
Elmhurst released the boy to Berkeley police, who handled charges related to the pursuit and burglary.
