Suspects Caught In Elmhurst Car Burglaries: Police

After the break-ins, an officer found the suspects' car, authorities said. After a chase, they were caught.

ELMHURST, IL – Five cars were burglarized early Friday morning in Elmhurst, with the suspects apprehended after a chase to Chicago, police said.

About 3:30 a.m., residents started calling 911 about burglaries of parked cars in neighborhoods between North Avenue and Lake Street, police said in a news release.

A half hour later, an officer spotted the suspects' white Ford Fusion sedan, but the driver sped away, heading east on Interstate 290, police said. Officers said they ended the pursuit for safety reasons.

Shortly after, Elmhurst detectives, several suburban agencies and Chicago police found the suspects' car at 95th and Jeffrey streets in Chicago, police said. The driver tried to flee, but hit a fire hydrant, disabling the car, police said.

The three suspects ran away, but were caught. They were identified as Jackson Rashaun, 20, of Rockford; Sidney Temarion, 20, of Chicago; and Tyrese Gillaird, 22, of Harvey. Each faces two counts of burglary.

Five burglaries were reported to Elmhurst police, occurring on Kimbell, Fremont, Evergreen and Prospect avenues.

Police are asking residents to check their cars parked outside for signs of theft.

Residents are also being requested to check the recordings from their exterior video cameras for the suspects. Police can be reached at 630-530-3050.
