Suspicious Incidents On Elmhurst Street: Cops
Two houses believed to have been broken into, reports say.

ELMHURST, IL – A man cut a window screen and entered a house late Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of South Washington Street, Elmhurst police said.
According to a police report, a witness described the man as having a dark complexion, wearing blue jeans and a baseball cap, and walking a medium-sized dog. Officers checked the area, but could not find the man.
About a half hour later, police received a report from a resident on the same block, where a woman said she heard footsteps in her home and found her front door open, the report said. That incident is believed to have happened shortly before the other one.

On Thursday evening, the police released a statement with more details about the earlier incident. The resident called to the person she heard. Further investigation revealed the suspect took jewelry from the home.
Neighbors told police they saw a dog walker around the same time as the burglary, the statement said, but it was unknown if that person was the suspect. The dog walker was described as a white man, having a medium build, in his 40s, and walking a black and white dog with a harness.
