Suspicious Man Checks Electrical Outlets: Elmhurst Cops
Woman lets man in house to examine outlets, report says.
ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst resident told police that a man showed up at her door requesting to check her electrical outlets, according to a police report. She let him in.
The resident walked through her home with the man as he inspected multiple outlets. He eventually left the house, with nothing appearing to be missing, police said. It happened about noon Wednesday in the 700 block of South Euclid Avenue.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, 5-foot-7, 155 pounds, having short hair and wearing a gray jacket.

This may have been an attempted ruse burglary. Ruse burglars often distract and engage homeowners in conversation while a second burglar enters the home and removes valuables.
Ruse burglaries occurred in March and December in Elmhurst, according to police reports.
