Synapse House Caregiver Boot Camp!

The Caregiver Boot Camps are designed to provide support and information to caregivers for persons with brain injury or stroke. These day long events include local speakers on a variety of topics, a luncheon social time and a problem solving session addressing specific concerns pertinent to individual families and their needs.
Resources for a variety of resources will be available during the luncheon hour. Small group problem solving will address individual caregiver concerns. The group will strategize on methods to help reduce the problem and suggest potential resources.

Objectives of the Caregiver Boot Camp:
1. Increase knowledge of basic information on brain injury, stroke and related impairments.
2. Increase knowledge on topics of greatest concern to caregivers.
3. Provide access to local and national resources and experts.
4. Increase access to other caregivers for support and to build a network.
5. Improve quality of life for both the caregiver and the person with brain injury as they incorporate new knowledge or techniques into the home.
6. Reduce burden of care felt by the caregiver by providing a supportive network.
7. Provide at least one solution or suggestion to individualized issue and provide the information to be able to implement the solution.

2:25 – 3:15 Small Group Problem Solving
3:30-4:00 Experienced Caregiver Panel
4:00 -4:30 Boot Camp Wrap-up

Small groups will be determined based on a short questionaire in order to tailor the groups to specific needs.
