Tea Tossed At Girls At Elmhurst Public Library: Police

In another case, a man missing from his Elmhurst house was found in a neighboring town, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving unruly youths at the library, a missing man, a gift card scam, a bail bond violation and a fleeing driver who crashed. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Tea incident

  • Five youths threw tea and plastic cups at a group of five girls about 5 p.m. Monday at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave. The girls did not know the suspects. An investigation is pending.

Missing man found

  • A resident in the 600 block of South Cambridge Avenue was reported missing Tuesday. Officers searched the area with the help of K-9s from Elmhurst and the DuPage County and Cook County sheriff's offices. The man was later found in neighboring Berkeley and taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Gift card scam

  • A resident in the 100 block of Melrose Avenue convinced her caregiver to go Jewel and buy a gift card, so the resident could send it to a famous singer. Scammers often target the elderly with gift card scams.

Bail bond violation

  • A resident in the 900 block of South Hillcrest Avenue told police Monday that a suspect violated his bail bond by texting her. An investigation is pending.

Fleeing driver crashes

  • An officer tried to stop a blue BMW 733i about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road. The vehicle was connected to a crime in Villa Park. The driver drove away and crashed. The suspect was taken to the Villa Park police station.
