Thefts At Both Elmhurst Jewel Stores: Cops
In one case, a man fled a store after he filled two carts with liquor, police said.
ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst's Jewel stores reported two thefts and one attempted theft over the weekend, police said.
About 9 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St., a man filled two carts with various bottles of alcohol, but then fled empty-handed after a police officer entered the store for an unrelated issue, police said.
The man was described as black, 18 to 25, 130 to 160 pounds, thin, having black hair, brown eyes and a beard, and wearing black jogging pants, a black or blue puffy winter vest, a black hoodie with white lettering on the sleeves, and a dark blue skull cap.

A couple of hours later, another incident happened at the same store. A man in a white box truck left the store with various grocery store items without paying, police said.
The man was described as black, 30 to 40, 6-foot to 6-foot-5, having black hair, mustache and beard, having brown eyes, having a large build, and wearing a royal blue Adidas jogging suit.

The third incident was about 7:30 a.m. Sunday at 944 S. York St. Four suspects tried to get into a plexiglass case containing high-end alcohol, but they were unsuccessful, police said. They, instead, fled with two bottles of alcohol from the shelf, police said.
Police said the four suspects were 18 to 30 years old, but except for their clothing, no other identifying information, including gender, was provided.
