Elmhurst Residents May Wait Days For Power
Utility releases times for when it aims to restore electricity for residents.
ELMHURST, IL — Many without power in Elmhurst and elsewhere now have a target time for when ComEd aims to restore power: 3 p.m. Saturday. That's more than four days away. The problems are the result of storms late Monday afternoon.
Patch checked many of the outages in Elmhurst on ComEd's online map, and nearly all of them have the same Saturday time.
"We expect the vast majority of customers to be restored by Friday and the rest by 3 p.m. Saturday," ComEd spokeswoman Cristina Meesenburg told Patch.

As of noon Tuesday, about the same number of people were without power in Elmhurst as there were in the morning — more than 6,400. In the utility's service area, 346,223 were affected by outages, down from 380,412 this morning. That's a 10 percent reduction. The total number of ComEd customers is a little more than 4 million.
Those affected by power outages in Elmhurst make up about 2 percent of ComEd's total.

On its website, ComEd indicates that it updates its online outage map about every 15 minutes. It appeared to be doing so Tuesday, but that was not the case in the hours after the storm Monday.
