Threatening Messages, Burglary: Elmhurst Cops
Two residents reported being harassed in the last few days, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving threatening messages, a burglary, stolen catalytic converters, a payroll scam, a gunshot wound and damage to a school, among other offenses. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Threats
- A resident in the 600 block of Lorraine Avenue told police that she received threatening notes at her front door between 4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Saturday. An investigation is pending.
- A resident in the 800 block of South Spring Road told police about receiving a threatening phone call from a woman about 8:30 pm. Saturday. An officer called the woman, who admitted to making the phone call. The woman was asked to cease communication with the resident.
Burglary

- A woman was seen trying to enter a number of storage rooms and gained access to the package closet at 183 N. Addison Ave., emerging with a package. This occurred between Aug. 9 and Aug. 13. The woman was described as wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt, black leggings, gray shoes and a dark baseball cap. The crime was listed as burglary.
Damage to car
- Someone punctured two tires and cracked the windshield of a man's car about 3 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue. It was believed the suspect had also been harassing the man's girlfriend on the phone. An investigation is pending.

- Someone entered Jefferson Elementary School, 360 E. Crescent Ave., and splattered paint on the floor, walls and several boxes between 2 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The damage was done in the basement art room and the first floor.
Converters stolen
- Catalytic converters were stolen overnight Wednesday from two rental cars at Courtyard by Marriott hotel, 370 N. Route 83.
Payroll scam
- A resident on Elm Creek Drive told police Thursday that someone called claiming to be with a payroll company. The person was able to provide the resident's personal information and said someone had filed tax paperwork on the resident's behalf. The resident suffered no monetary loss and was advised to report the call to her employer.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop a gray Infiniti G35 about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue. The officer deemed the car suspicious. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290 from North Avenue.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 800 block of South Sunnyside Avenue told police Saturday that someone opened several accounts using his personal information.
Gunshot wound
- An officer responded to Elmhurst Hospital shortly after midnight Sunday for a man with a gunshot wound and a woman with facial injuries. The patients were involved in an incident on Interstate 88. State police took over the investigation.
Porch piracy
- A package was stolen about 11:30 p.m. Sunday from a front porch in the 400 block of South Prospect Avenue.
