Threatening Messages, Road Rage: Elmhurst Cops
Two residents received threats in separate incidents, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police responded to cases involving threatening messages, harassment, road rage, a ComEd scam, food stamp fraud and porch piracy. Here is the information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Threatening messages
- A resident in the 900 block of South Spring Road told police Friday that another person threatened her in a text message. The resident was advised to obtain an order of protection and call 911 if she feels threatened. The suspect denied making any threats.
- A resident in the 800 block of South Spring Road told police about a threatening phone call Sunday. An officer spoke with the suspect, who denied making any threatening statements and said he did not know the resident's contact information. The suspect was advised to avoid contact with the resident.

- About 3 p.m. Friday, a woman was waiting for traffic to pass at Route 83 and St. Charles Road when a man pulled out of a bank parking lot onto St. Charles behind her. He honked his horn at her. When they pulled up to the red light, the man walked up to her driver's side window, banged his hand on the glass and walked back to his vehicle. An investigation is pending. The man was described as white, 6 feet, 30 to 50 years old, and wearing a black jacket and a black baseball camp.
Unconscious
- Police responded to a report of a person drinking and taking medication about 11 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The person was unconscious but breathing. The person was taken into the hospital.
Converter theft

- A catalytic converter was stolen from a bus between April 7 and April 21 at the Ray Graham Association, 420 W. Madison St.
Harassment
- A resident in the 100 block of South Chandler Ave. told police Thursday about harassing text messages from a suspect. The resident wanted to cease all communications with him. An officer contacted the suspect and advised him to stop all communication.
Possible theft
- Police were called Thursday about a theft in the 400 block of North West Avenue. A resident believes another family member stole his passport, Social Security card and other documents. The suspect denies taking any of the documents.
ComEd scam
- A resident in the 300 block of South York Street received a call Friday from a person purporting to be from ComEd. The caller said the resident owed ComEd money and that if she did not pay, the utility would cut off service immediately. The resident's daughter called ComEd, which verified the account was not delinquent.
Porch piracy
- A resident in the 200 block of North Highland Avenue told police that FedEx delivered a package April 6, but it went missing. The resident filed a report with FedEx, which is investigating. The resident said she would check her house cameras to see whether the package was ever delivered.
Food stamp fraud
- A resident in the 100 block of North Michigan told police that someone used her food stamp card benefits in eight transactions from April 17 and April 22. The food stamp program was notified the charges were fraudulent.
Gas drive-off
- A man pumped gas and drove off without paying shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday at Thorntons, 476 N. York St. The vehicle did not have any plates. The man was described as Hispanic, 5-foot-7, about 215 pounds and wearing a black jacket.
Driving violations
- Evelyn Gulley, 66, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 7:30 a.m. Friday at St. Charles and Route 83 on charges of no valid driver's license, failure to report an accident, improper backing of a vehicle on a roadway and driving an uninsured vehicle. She was released on bond.
- Miguel Martin Gallardo, 54, of Chicago, was cited about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Riverside and Route 83 on a charge of no valid driver's license. He was released on bond.
- Lorenza Ocampo, 48, of Chicago, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Clinton and North on charges of no valid driver's license, improper lighting and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond.
- Manuel Perez-Licona, 37, of Villa Park, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at North and Berteau on a Villa Park Police Department warrant and charges of illegal transportation of alcohol and driving a motor vehicle while using a phone. He was released on bond.
