Threats Made By IC Catholic Prep Students: Police
These threats are taken seriously by police and school officials, police said in a bulletin alerting Elmhurst residents.

ELMHURST, IL — Two teenagers who attend school at IC Catholic Prep in Elmhurst made internet threats over the weekend, police said in a community alert. One post included a picture of body armor and referred it to a new school uniform for students on Monday. That threat, police said, was in response to another made earlier by another student.
The post was shared by others, and other teens became involved in a discussion about it police said. An investigation is still open, as police meet with school officials to determine the next course of action.
"Based on the investigation, police believe that this was an isolated incident and the students who were involved pose no further credible threat to others," Elmhurst police said in a statement. "The postings have been removed and there will be an increased police presence around the school tomorrow (Monday) with uniformed and plain clothes officers."

"Elmhurst Police would like to remind students and parents that these threats are taken seriously by the police and school officials. The consequences for these actions are enforced and students should be mindful of what they post."
IC Catholic Prep released its own statement on the matter.
"This weekend, we learned of a situation involving a few of our students and reckless social media behavior. The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority, therefore, we immediately reported this information to the Elmhurst Police Department (EPD).
We fully cooperated with the relevant authorities, including EPD. They concluded their investigation and quickly determined that there was not a credible threat to our students or our school.
We remain in contact with the students’ families and are doing everything we can to support them and help them understand the magnitude of their actions on- and off-line. We are grateful to the EPD for all they do to make our community safe.
We continue to pride ourselves in developing young men and women of strong academic, social-emotional and moral character.”
