Top Chicago Marathon Finishers From Elmhurst
James Akita, 37, was the first Elmhurst resident and man to cross the finish line at 02:39:07.

ELMHURST, IL — Dozens of Elmhurst residents ran in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday. The 26.2-mile course, which runs through 29 Chicago neighborhoods and finishes in Grant Park, features runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries.
James Akita, 37, was the first Elmhurst resident and man to cross the finish line at 02:39:07, according to unofficial results. Shari Eberhard, 23, finished first among Elmhurst women, with a time of 02:55:00.

First place for the marathon went to Galen Rupp, 31, from Portland, Oregon with a time of 02:09:20. Rupp beat out Kenyan Abel Kirui, 35, who finished with a time of 02:09:48. Tirunesh Dibaba, 32, from Ethiopia was the top female finisher clocking in at 02:18:31. Results are still unofficial.
