ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an undressed person, a dispute involving a gun, scams, retail theft and threats. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Undressed

  • A man was flagged down by someone in a tan Toyota Camry about 4 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of South Berkley Avenue. The person inside the car was completely undressed. The man reported the incident the next day. An investigation is pending.

Handgun displayed

  • A resident in the 800 block of North Van Auken Street told police Sunday about an argument over a business deal that happened nine days earlier. The suspect displayed a handgun and threatened him. An investigation is pending.

Scams

  • A resident in the 200 block of East May Street told police Friday that she received a notification stating her computer was hacked. The resident contacted the phone number provided and spoke with a person purporting to be a Microsoft representative. The resident was then transferred to a person who requested the resident buy bitcoin.
  • A resident in the 800 block of South Poplar Avenue told police Saturday that someone contacted her and said she won prize money in a sweepstakes. She was told she needed to send money to cover taxes and fees. The resident sent money over several weeks.

Retail theft

  • Four people stole merchandise about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The suspects entered a red Hyundai Santa Fe and sped away north on Route 83 from St. Charles Road. An investigation is pending.
  • A man stole a carton of cigarettes and ran away about 5 p.m. Sunday at BP gas station, 1003 N. York St. The man ran east on Grand Avenue before jumping a fence. An investigation is pending. The man was described as black, 5-foot-8, 220 pounds, having gray stubble on his beard, and wearing a white and black baseball hat with tags, a white shirt, blue jeans, and black and white shoes.

Threats

  • A man told police that his brother-in-law threatened him about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. The brother-in-law told officers that he did not say anything to the man and had tried to stay away from him.

Damage

  • Someone tried to pry open a mailbox between Thursday and Saturday at Grace Bible Church, 398 W. Eggleston. The attempt resulted in damage.
  • The glass panel on a house's front door was damaged by an object about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East Crescent Avenue. An investigation is pending.
