8-Year-Old Celebrates Birthday by Rallying Donations for Elmhurst Schoolchildren

For her eighth birthday, Ava Silverstein asked her friends to donate to the United Community Concerns Association.

United Community Concerns Association sends a big thank you to Ava Silverstein, who celebrated her 8th birthday by asking her friends and family to donate school supplies to UCCA in lieu of gifts. The four boxes of supplies will help many Elmhurst District 205 students get off to a good start in the new school year.

UCCA is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that has provided food and supplies to local residents for 38 years. 99% of all funds that UCCA collects are used to help those in need. Last year UCCA provided almost $86,000 in food and food certificates to more than 300 families and 100 senior residents.
