Unlocked Cars Targeted In Elmhurst

Vehicles were burglarized in three places in town, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst police received reports this week of unlocked cars being burglarized. Here is the information:

  • Suspects entered an unlocked car and removed a garage door opener about 4 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of South Fern Avenue. Video showed three suspects enter the garage, where another car was. They eventually left the area in a gray Acura. Nothing else appeared missing from the Fern Avenue cars.
  • Someone entered an unlocked car and stole several tools about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue. The suspect's car was a gold Saturn.
  • Someone entered an unlocked car and stole a wallet containing several credit cards, a driver's license and money between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St. Another unlocked car at LA Fitness was burglarized between 12:20 p.m. and 12:35 p.m. A watch was stolen.
