Urn Theft, Trailer Burglary: Elmhurst Cops
A bronze urn was stolen at a local cemetery, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a stolen urn, a trailer burglary, a missing Mexican passport, a catalytic converter theft, a theft at an auto body shop and a broken window, among other offenses. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Urn stolen
- A woman told police that her parents' bronze urn was stolen between Aug. 15 and Aug. 27 from Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Ave.
Trailer burglary

- Someone forced entry into a locked trailer owned by Hackney Co. and stole packaged tobacco products about 5 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of North Industrial Drive. An investigation is pending.
Missing Mexican passport
- A woman in the 100 block of Grantley Avenue told police Wednesday that her Mexican passport was missing. She was unsure where she may have misplaced it.
Converter theft

- A catalytic converter was stolen from a car between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The hospital parking lot has been a frequent target of converter thieves.
Theft at auto body shop
- A spoiler was stolen from a car between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday at Larry Roesch Auto Body, 150 E. Grand Ave.
Car damage
- A woman told police that her car was struck by a chain link fence that was moved by a passing storm between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday. The front bumper and trim were damaged.
- A driver told police that an unknown object struck her car from another vehicle about 7:30 a.m. Monday near Roosevelt Road and York Street.
Window broken
- The window of the front door of a house in the 200 block of North Oaklawn Avenue was broken between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday. Video surveillance showed a lawn mower going past the damaged window, possibly causing debris to hit the door and breaking it.
DUI
- A man was found to be drunk driving about 1 a.m. Wednesday at West Avenue and Lake Street. He was arrested, with charges pending.
Suspicious
- A resident in the 800 block of Howard Avenue told police shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday that he woke up to a person screaming for help. Officers checked the area, but found nothing.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 700 block of South Hillside Avenue told police Monday that someone used her debit card to sign up for two monthly subscriptions. The victim reported the unauthorized charges to her bank. She was issued a new debit card. She was advised to monitor her credit in case of any more fraudulent activity.
