U.S. Mail Truck Hit by Freight Train in Addison
Only minor injuries were reported from the crash, police say.

Update:
The quiet zone established several years ago along the railway line at the southern edge of Addison will be suspended temporarily until repairs at the Grace Street crossing are finished, Canadian National’s Government Relations personnel told the village.
Canadian National trains on this route were not required to use train horns because Addison’s grade crossings met Federal safety standards, according to the Village of Addison.

A freight train hit the trailer of a semi truck carrying mail around 4:48 a.m. Thursday at the Grace Street crossing in Addison.
Minor injuries were reported, but no one was hospitalized from the crash, according to Addison police.
Grace Street between North Avenue and Belden Avenue is expected to be closed to traffic for several hours while clean up continues. Photos from the scene show mail strewn around the truck’s crumpled trailer.
U.S. Postal Inspectors arrived at the crash site, and the Canadian National Railroad is following up with an investigation, police reported.
