Violin Virtuoso Maya Kilburn in Concert
Winner of the 2019 Muncie Symphony Young Artist Competition comes to Elmhurst

Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst will feature 16 year-old Muncie, Indiana native and violin virtuoso Maya Kilburn on Sunday, Feb. 24th at 4:00 p.m. she performs works by Bach, a Debussy Sonata, a Tchaikovsky Concerto and the virtuoso showpiece Carmen Fantasie by Franz Waxman. Music@Bethel concerts have delighted audiences from Elmhurst and surrounding communities for 20 outstanding seasons. Jeffrey Panko, Artistic Director of the concert series will accompany Kilburn on the piano.
Kilburn has played the violin since age four, and “brings a skilled presence to the stage and performs with a mature sound well beyond her years,” says Kimberly Diamond of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra.
She currently studies with Mimi Zweig at the Indiana University Jacobs School String Academy. Kilburn is a recent winner of the 2019 Muncie Symphony Young Artist Competition, where she performed the 3rd movement of the Tchaikovsky violin concerto. This was her 4th win this season, which includes the Carmel Symphony’s Young Artists Competition, New World Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Young Artist Solo Concerto Competition.

Tickets are available online through www.musicatbethel.com or by calling 630-279-4040. Prices are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $5 for students. The church is accessible and parking is free. Enter at the Sandburg Middle School entrance from St. Charles Road, or from Huntington off Poplar Street.
